The Austria Pavilion caters to all senses. Together with the Shanghai Charity Foundation, the Shanghai Youth Community and the Shanghai Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment the pavilion organized an eventful Expo-day on June 17 for 30 blind children from the Shanghai Blind Children School, which aimed at emphasizing, beyond the pavilion’s visual appeal, its other distinctive features.
After a short introduction by Ms. Birgit Murr, Vice Commissioner General, the children were particularly impressed by the snow speckled mountain area in which they immediately started a small snow fight. After this experience of “touching”, the concert in the pavilion’s city area constituted an acoustic highlight of which especially little Jin will keep fond memories- “beautiful, the Austrian music”, she raved and, after a race on the “modern Lipizzaner” hopping horses and the sausage tasting in the pavilion restaurant, got all excited about the fragrant Austrian essence of roses, which was offered to the children at the end of their visit.
An impressive and very sense-stimulating experience for both the children and the pavilion staff!
